Norquay Hosting the first NorAm Race since 1999

Banff Alpine Racers, together with Mt Noruay, are hosting a Nor Am Cup Slalom event for the first time since 1999, on Silver Legacy.  In 2016 Norquay named the run Silver Legacy after Banff Alpine Racers Alumni Trevor Philp, Erik Read and Jan Hudec, who were all recipients of silver medals at World Championship Alpine Events. 

Silver Legacy has been an integral part of BAR, AASA and ACA training and racing, as it is a homologated Slalom race centre for FIS and NorAm events.  BAR Alumni and current World Cup athletes Erik and Jeffrey Read come and train here as often as their schedule allows, knowing they always have a home at Mt Norquay.  Watering the surface provides world class training and racing for athletes.

BAR and Mt Norquay will be hosting the Nor Am Cup Slalom event, January 27-30, alongside Lake Louise, who will be hosting the GS Events on their World Cup Men's Downhill track.  Cancelling the Lake Louise Word Cup has taken away the opportunity to grow the sport in Alberta and Canada and the hope is that the race will return one day.  

Of note, Mt Norquay is North America's oldest resort, set to celebrate their 100th anniversary next season.
